Dn. Zachariah Diju Skariah to be Ordained to the Holy Priesthood
Chicago: The Diocese of South-West America announces the ordination of Dn. Zachariah Diju Skariah to the Holy Order of Priesthood (Kaseeso) on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at St. Gregorios Orthodox Cathedral in Bellwood (Chicago), Illinois. The ordination service will be led by South-West Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius.
Dn. Zachariah was first ordained as Sub-Deacon in Chicago on March 27, 2010 by South-West Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Alexios Mar Eusebius. Earlier this year, on January 4, 2011, he was ordained as Full-Deacon by Chengannur Diocesan Metropolitan, His Grace Thomas Mar Athanasius.
In 2007, Dn. Zachariah earned a Bachelor’s degree in Church & Ministry Leadership, Psychology, and Theology from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois. After completion of his Master’s of Divinity from St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in May of 2010, Semassen completed a six month liturgical study program at the Orthodox Theological Seminary, Kottayam, Kerala, India.
Dn. Zachariah is currently settled in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife, Shirley, where he is pursuing a Masters in Social Work at the University of Kansas.
Dn. Zachariah is the youngest son of Thomas & Mariamma Skariah (Charumoottil House, Chengannur) and the son-in-law of Rev. Fr. Cherian (Sunny) & Elsa Kunnel (Kunnel Valiyaveedu, Puthencavu).
